    Preview, part II

This is what we have to deal with this week:

This the wall of the kitchen that used to have the fridge (Happy Birthday, sister-in-law!), the sink and the dishwasher. We're fairly confident that the damage is mostly water-ish in nature, and we're hoping that it will be easy to replace, possibly with some hardi-panel, a water-proof subfloor.

This, on the hand. THIS. We have no idea what this is. It's the back of the closet in the second bedroom. Water? Cat? Leak? Mold? Any guesses?

I think they're squashed grapes. Someone was trying to make their own wine.

I've just been catching up on your blog. Fun reading. So what's the deal? You aren't building a house anymore but went for a new condo? Or is that temporary? Where is it? Details! I want details! Liz

    B,

If what is on the floor in our condo is related to wine, then maybe its better that I don't drink.

    Liz,

Our plan is to still build a house, but when we sold our last condo in order to liquidate the equity that we had in it in order to buy land on which to build a house we found ourselves homeless. Not being very excited about the rental opportunities in town for the next 1 to 2 years while we searched for land and built a house, we decided that we would find a condo that was cheap, remodel it and have a comfortable place to live during the house building process. The remodel of the condo we ended up buying is turning out to be a little more extensive than we had initially thought, so that is going to pretty much be all consuming until we are finished. The land hunt will resume once we are moved in, which we hope will be by Christmas.

Valid questions, all. I added "Backstory" to the homepage to help clear up a bit of confusion. Right now, though, we're in the holding pattern (involving a lot of nasty renovation work) that Tai mentioned. We're hoping to be done with this renovation by/around Christmas and then start looking for land again at the beginning of the year. *Hope* being the operative word...
